The Historical Archive receives inactive archives of the Departments and organizations headed by the University of Thessaly. It follows the acquisitions policy of "holistic documentation" and together with archival records receives accompanying material (objects, collections) that complements and extends their meaning and uses.
Department of Historical Archive (Tsalapata Complex)
Parts of the archival collections are stored in the Central Library and the Kitsos Makris Folklore Centre buildings
The Historical Archive holdings includes archives from the University administration of the, abolished university Departments, university professors and businesses. Most have been acquired either as inactive archives or through donations. Almost all of them date from after World War II. In the majority of documents, the medium is paper. The archives also include audio-visual material, photographs, slides and collections of objects.
An electronic index with archival descriptions will be published in the website. Specific and thematic indexes have not yet been compiled.
The building is not yet open to the public (access to the collections is provided exclusively online).
Digital copies and item photography are provided upon request. The requested items are provided to interested students and researchers solely for educational and research purposes, subject to compliance with applicable copyright laws. Usually there are no charges, except in the case that prints or extensive research of the archival collections are requested by a member of the staff of the University of Thessaly Historical Archive (in the case of any charge, those interested will be informed by staff members).
